Fretz, Jay Curtice
36, of Tempe passed away Monday, May 17, 2010. Jay was born October 3, 1973 in Annapolis, MD to parents John and GayLee Fretz and shared a wonderfully diverse, well-traveled youth with them and his older brother Kevin. Jay graduated from Vestal High School in Vestal, NY in 1990. He then graduated from the State University of New York Binghamton, where he earned his BA degree in philosophy. Following his graduation, Jay moved to Chandler, AZ where his brother, Kevin lived. Jay settled in Tempe, AZ in 1996 and wed Angela Roose in 2003, becoming the proud father of Anika Jaden Fretz in 2005. Being a student of philosophy, Jay possessed an endless desire to learn and uncover the truths in everyday life. He was a supporter of environmental protection, and he was very passionate about creating a sustainable society. He and his wife had succeeded in reducing their own carbon footprints considerably, and he was dedicated to helping others move in the same direction. Jay's commitment to his vision and his own character was admired by many. Jay is survived by his wife Angela, daughter Anika, parents John and GayLee and brother Kevin. A memorial service for Jay will be held Friday, May 28 at 4:00 p.m. at the Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, 6400 West Del Rio Street, Chandler, AZ 85226. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the name of Jay's daughter, Anika. Donations to this fund should be sent to Angela Fretz at 1869 E. Minton Dr., Tempe AZ 85282.
