68, of Scottsdale Arizona, died peacefully Wednesday, April 12, after a short illness. "Jerry" was born on January 26, 1948, in Corona Queens, NY to Jeremiah Richard and Helen Mele. His beloved parents and Sisters-in law, Marianne Yanni and Tracy Yanni preceded him in death. Besides Jerry's loyal and loving wife of 31 years, Angela (nee Yanni), Jerry's three children, "Jerry" Mele, and wife, Joanne, of Cape Coral, Fl, Christina Duval and husband Ken of Banden, OR, and Samuel "Sammy" Mele of Scottsdale, AZ, survive him. Jerry also leaves behind his sister, Mary Ann Perlowski and her husband, Ted of Middle Island, NY and Brothers and Sisters in Law: Sam Yanni of Houston, TX, Madeline Yanni of Bradenton, Fl, Jo Ann Martarano and husband Louis of Dickson City, Pa, Theresa Yanni of Las Vegas NV, Tommy Yanni and Bobby Alatorre, of Maricopa, AZ, Catherine and Mark Humbles, Peoria, AZ, RoseAnn and Fred Torme of Peoria, AZ, Anne and Joseph Koniszewski of Peckville, PA and Michael Yanni of Los Angeles CA. In addition, Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his three grandchildren, Jocelyn Mele and Jared and Lucas Duval and 16 nieces and nephews and 7 great grand nieces and nephews. From 1968 to 69, Jerry served proudly in Vietnam as a 2nd brigade 4th division Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols (LRRP), and was a Purple Star recipient. A larger than life figure in the music industry, Jerry began his career as a security guru in 1983. He has performed security for over 49 acts, among them; Madonna, U 2, Slayer, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, David Bowie, Ozzie Osborne, Julian Lennon and Michael Bolton. Jerry was an avid painter, photographer, landscaper, gardener, music-lover, and lately, had been spending some of his time in Deltona, Florida writing a book about his experiences in Vietnam and the Music Industry. A celebration of Jerry's amazing life will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 2 at Our Lady of the Angels Church at the Franciscan Renewal Center Renewal Center 5802 E. Lincoln Dr. Scottsdale, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to , 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
