Arthur "Jim" James Sickler, 70 years old, of Phoenix, Arizona, lost a three year battle with cancer on February 17th, 2016. He was born during World War II at Luke AFB, in Arizona, to Hank and Peggy Sickler. A military brat, from birth to high school graduation, he lived in Washington, Japan, Arizona, Texas and Germany. After high school graduation in 1964, he joined the regular U.S. Army and served in Germany and Vietnam. Upon release from the Army in April 1967, he joined the Phoenix Police Department as an officer. He married the love of his life, Betsy Shull in May 1967. Jim served 32 years with the Phoenix P.D., retiring in July 1999. During his P.D. service, he also served 23 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, retiring in April 1994. He was a veteran of Vietnam 1966-1967 and Desert Storm 1990-1991. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed playing golf; watching baseball and old movies; and reading books. He proudly served his country and community and will be missed by many. Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betsy; son, Wesley Sickler; daughters Sherry Sickler and Holly Anderson and granddaughter Haleigh Anderson.
