Prator, John ("Jay") Couey Jr.
was born in Los Angeles on April 22nd, 1928, and slipped the surly bonds of this Earth in Scottsdale, Arizona to touch the face of God on April 19th, 2013. During his vibrant life he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a graduate of University of Arizona, a 'rocket scientist' with Hughes Aerospace and Wyle Aerospace, and an electrical engineer with Motorola for 33 years. Jay was fortunate enough to meet and marry two incredible women - Mary E Wersell (until her death in 1998) and W. Sharon Gieseler (whom he married in 2004). He is survived by his wife Sharon, his daughters Mary Kay Pearson of Ann Arbor, MI and Cynthia Louise Prator of Scottsdale, AZ, sons John Neil Prator (Melissa) of Tempe, AZ and Michael Keith Prator (Daphne) of Chandler, AZ, six grandchildren (Heidi Pearson-Becker, Trent Pearson, Dylan, Alexander, Zachary, and Kathryn Prator), and three great-grandchildren (Sydney Becker, Grant and Hunter Pearson) and two step-children Daniel Vincent (Debbie) and Lisa Lundstrom (Phillip) of Mesa, AZ. A celebration of his life will be held May 4th @ 10:00 AM at The Franciscan Renewal Center ("The Casa").
