Landry, John Thelesphore III
71, of Glendale, Arizona took the checkered flag on December 19th, 2015 at home with his family. "Johnny" was born July 4th, 1944 in New London, CT, the only child born to Lillian Mae (White) and J.T. Landry. He was raised on a dairy farm in Hammond, Louisiana. During high school years, he moved to Phoenix where he attended and excelled as an athlete at Carl Hayden H.S. He played football for Phoenix College. In November, 1964, he married Beverly Cline. He worked several years for Shamrock Dairy. He became an electrician, where he spent 47 years with IBEW Local 640. Toward the end of his career he traveled for work to San Francisco & Las Vegas and made many new friends along the way. He retired in 2008. He had many interests. Beginning in the early 70's, he became part of a huge sprint car racing family at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, where he was actively involved for many, many years. He was a proud and patriotic American. He enjoyed his dogs, fishing, golfing, playing cards, reading, watching sports and western movies (John Wayne), family functions, visits to the White Mountains & Louisiana, and EVERYTHING involving his granddaughters. He loved attending church at CCV where he was baptized and was a member. John had a big heart, loved people, and was always there for others. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly, son, John T. Landry IV, daughter-in-law, Susan Monistere Landry, daughter, Kellie Landry, and granddaughters, Johnna Landry and Cynthia Holmes-Landry. The family is forever grateful to Hospice of the Valley. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 9th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ's Church of the Valley (CCV), located at 7007 W. Happy Valley Rd, Peoria, AZ 85383.
