Jonathan Francis Sterner Lemnitzer Obituary
Lemnitzer, Jonathan Francis Sterner
Jonathan Francis Sterner Lemnitzer was born January 31, 1990 in San Luis Obispo, CA. He died Sunday, January 31, 2016 in Phoenix, AZ on his 26th birthday. Jonathan was a darling little boy who grew up into a handsome and wonderful young man. He was intelligent, loved to read and carried on amazing conversations on topics including history and politics. He played sports but really liked watching it and commenting on it better. He loved the outdoors, hiking and camping anytime he could. He had a passion for music. Life was only what you had to do until the next concert, Coachella or musical road trip!
In his much too short life Jonathan was able to reach 100's of people through his work at Calvary Addiction and Recovery Center. As he was in a recovery program himself and had 22 months sobriety, he was a great help and support to others in their darkest hours. Jonathan was a beautiful person inside and out. He was so fun to be with that there seemed to always be a crowd wherever he went. His passion for reaching out to people suffering from addictions or emotional problems was the result of having a big heart. He was bigger than life. A child of God with a passion for caring and helping. He was also wounded beyond words. He loved his little sister, Allison, and was so proud of her. He wanted to be there for her especially after their father died last October. That proved to be a burden too big for him to bear. Even in death Jonathan was thinking about and helping others. He was an organ donor. Jonathan is preceded in death by his Nana, Mary L. Burns, His Grandma, Doris V. Edminster, his father, The Rev. John G. Lemnitzer. He is survived by his mother, The Rev. Kim Sterner and sister, Allison Lemnitzer, Aunts and Uncles and cousins. The celebration of his life will be on February 6th at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church, 801 E. Camelback Rd. Phoenix, AZ with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Calvary Addiction and Recovery Center at 7th Street and Missouri in Phoenix; Lutheran World Hunger Appeal or HeartswithHaiti.org or to a charity of your choosing.
