Joshua James Carter Obituary
Carter, Joshua James
October 26, 1979 - June 14, 2016. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Joshua James Carter died at his home in Prescott, Arizona with his wife by his side. Joshua was a fourth generation Arizonan, born October 26, 1979, in Phoenix; the first born son of Donna Jo Carter of Glendale, Arizona, and John Borgquist Carter of Phoenix, Arizona. Joshua married Stephani (Kleen) Carter on December 21, 2012 in Pocahontas, Iowa at the Kleen family farm. Joshua and Stephani met in 2007 and lightning struck as they fell in love at first sight. They knew they had finally found the person they were meant to be with forever. Joshua began his career as a Paramedic Firefighter, working in Buckeye Valley Fire Department, Maricopa Fire Department, Williamson Valley Fire Department, Fort Dodge Fire Department, and Mayer Fire Department. Joshua was also a Teacher for Wizard Education. He taught many firefighters, paramedics, nurses and more, and they are now all able to carry his knowledge with them in the field today. Joshua would do whatever he needed to do, to help his students understand. He was a brilliant paramedic and spent a lot of his time in ongoing study to make sure he knew he was doing the best he could for his patients and students. Joshua also worked for Comcast Ambulance, Lifeline Ambulance, and PMT Ambulance while working for the fire departments. He did this to keep his skills up in paramedicine, as that was always his passion. He then went on to become a Flight Paramedic for Aerocare in 2014 transporting patients by airplane. Joshua always wanted to fly on helicopter rescues and was soon hired by AirMethods in 2015. Joshua cared very deeply for his patients. He always knew what to say and do using care and his love to help everyone. Joshua was the grandson of Dr. James S. Carter, who was the father of John Carter. James was the son of Henry Shreve Carter 2nd of St. Louis, Mo.; who was the son of 1) Captain Henry Shreve Carter 1st (Great Grandfather No. 1) of Louisville, KY.; who was the son of 2) Walker Randolph Carter 2nd (Great Grandfather No. 2) of Fredericksburg, Va.; who was the son of 3) Walker Randolph Carter 1st (Great Grandfather No.3) of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania County, Va.; who was the son of 4) Col. Charles Carter (of Ludlow) (Great Grandfather No. 4) of 'Stanstead', King George County, Va.; who was the son of 5) Col. Charles Carter (of Cleve) (Great Grandfather No. 5) of 'Corotoman', Lancaster County, Va.; who was the son of 6) Robert 'King' Carter (of Corotoman) (Great Grandfather No. 6) of 'Corotoman' Lancaster County, Va.; and his (2nd) Elizabeth "Betty" Landon (Willis) of Herefordshire, England. Joshua was a direct descendant of Robert 'King' Carter (1663-1732), Great Grandfather No. 6, who was the "wealthiest man of the colony" and a descendant of William the Conqueror, Kind of England. Joshua was a descendant of William de Lanvallei, one of the 25 Sureties of the Magna Carta of 1215. When the great Civil War began, Joshua's great grandfather, Theophilus Moore, born in 1843, walked from Mannington, WV to Wheeling, WV to enlist in the Union Army at the age of 17. Theophilus fought throughout the conflict and was present at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, when General Lee surrendered. After casting his first ballot for Abraham Lincoln, Theophilus voted in every presidential election until his death in 1930. Joshua was tall, dark, and handsome with beautiful brown kind eyes. The safest place in the world was in his arms. He always strived to be better every day, and never gave up to make sure he took care of his family and his wife. Everyone who knew him could feel his strength and spirit. Joshua love to work out and was the picture of health. Joshua enjoyed reading, cooking/grilling, camping, watching movies, nature, astronomy, being with family, and spending every moment outside of work with his wife. He couldn't wait to be home with Stephani and their three dogs. Joshua is survived by his wife Stephani Carter; his son Keegan Alexander Brunssen of Spearfish, SD; his mother Donna Jo Carter of Glendale, AZ; his sister Stacy Ann Carter of Los Angeles, CA; his sister Jessica Susan Carter of Los Angeles, CA; his brother Sean Neal Carter of Goodyear, AZ; his cousins Anathea and Nathan Wallace of Alaska, Ayesha Townsend of Tallahassee, FL; his uncle Robert N.
