Juanita Ruth Brown Obituary
Brown, Juanita Ruth
was born January 12, 1925 in Portsmouth, Ohio, and married to Fred Brown, with whom she will be reunited in the everafter, on June 6, 1947. Ruth passed peacefully in her sleep on April 16, 2016. She was a force to be reckoned with, was extremely intelligent and was always the life of the party. She loved life, lived it to the fullest, taking pride in her home, family and friends. She and Fred built a classic car collection and traveled the world in their pursuits. Ruth was editor of the Jaguar Magazine and won multiple Best in Shows with her SS100 Jaguar and her antique Rolls Royce. Ruth's vision started to fail when she was in her early 40' s, but she never let her impairment hamper her lifestyle. In the early 1950's Ruth began Oakcrest Kennels, breeding and showing Dachshunds, collecting many Best in Show and Group wins. In the 1980's Ruth ventured into Whippets, the breed which shared her life; when she passed, there was a Whippet lying next to her. Ruth, as in everything she did, bred beautiful Whippets, and owned one that competed in American Whippet Club Top Twenty. Ruth was a founding member of the Arizona Whippet Association, and was a presence at the dog shows for half a century. We are going to miss her. Ruth is survived by several nephews and nieces as well as valued friends in the states of Arizona and Ohio. A memorial open house gathering will be held between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Sunday May 1, 2016 at the Brown residence located in Scottsdale, AZ.
