Julia Lee Townsend Obituary
Townsend, Julia Lee
was delivered into the hands of her loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 1, 2015, at the age of 56 after a short and sudden illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Barbara Coleman and by her maternal grandparents, Frank and Dueretta Miller of Missoula, MT; and by her cherished uncle, Donald Harkins of El Paso, TX. Julia was born on December 20, 1958, in Encino, CA. She is survived by her husband, Kelly, and four sisters, Mary "Diane" (LaMont) Kotila of Federal Way, WA; Terry (Petros) Safioleas of Annandale, VA; Debra (Kenny Trainer) Coleman of Huachuca City, AZ; and Lisa (Lance) Doman, also of Huachuca City. As a child growing up, Julia's growth spurts caused constant sleeping, and her sisters nicknamed her "Snoozy," a name she was affectionately called all her life. Julia married the love of her life, Kelly Townsend, in Mesa, AZ , on April 20, 1995, and together they nurtured their children; Catherine Townsend (Escondido, CA), Eric Brett (Washington, DC), and Lindsay Mansfield (Gilbert, AZ) and six grandchildren: Wyatt Kelly Townsend (1 yr old); Travis Mansfield (13 yrs old); Jordan Mansfied (11 yrs old); Bruce Brett and Sofia Brett (2 & 4 yrs old), and the oldest Kimberly Brett (18 yrs old). Julia is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews: Michelle Kotila (CA), Todd Kotila (MT), Penelope Safioleas Flagg (VA), George Safioleas (VA), and Elisa Coppola (AZ), and many great-nieces and nephews. As her husband's business partner in private investigations for twenty years, Julia tirelessly supported runaway and kidnapped children through search and rescue and reintroduction of the child to its parents. Human traffickers and others who abused children would become their targets and they worked tirelessly, many times without remuneration. They were guests on radio talk shows and for a short time had a reality TV show Last Seen Alive on the Investigation Discovery channel. Julia and Kelly travelled the world in their love of life and were the source of inspiration to others to live life to its fullest. Julia lived by her dreams. Julia's memorial service was held on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Community Church of New Thought, Mesa, AZ. A memorial has been created at WWW.GOFUNDME.COM under Julia and Kelly Townsend. Kelly and his family wish to thank Julia's loving friends and business associates for their outpouring of support. Pastor Gary Shepard presided over the farewell service.
