Hicks, Kenneth Avenue
In Loving Memory Kenneth Avenue Hicks, 79, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away, Thursday, May 2, 2013. Kenneth was born on February 8, 1934 in Whitesville, West Virginia, and predeceased by his parents, Luther Mason Hicks (1992) and Almeda Hicks (Holland) (1999). Kenneth is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lula Valentine Hicks (Graves), 4 daughters; Fonda Diane Poe, and her husband, Alan Poe, Tina Marie Maguire, Patricia Lynn Conary, and her husband, Mark Conary, Michelle Dee LaFlam, and her husband, Bryan LaFlam; 13 grandchildren; Terri Ann, Gregory, Chandal, Joshua, Anthony, Rebecca, Jareth, Raquelle, Kenneth, Patrick, Tony, Tyler, and Parker; 15 great grandchildren; his brother, John Elwood Hicks, and his wife, Della Hicks. Kenneth served in the United States Army in 1955, and served active duty during both the Vietnam and Korean wars. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant E5 in 1967. Kenneth retired from the City of Tempe where he worked for over 20 years, and spent his last years caring for his wife, water ponds, and their dog, Tippy, who at 16 years old passed away in January, 2013. Kenneth will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, May 29 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024.
