Ainslie, Lawrence (Larry) A.
Lawrence (Larry) A. Ainslie, age 81, was born in Seattle, Washington on June 3, 1934 and passed away on November 14, 2015. He was the oldest of five children born to Edward E. Ainslie and Eulalie Yvonne (Stack) Ainslie. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Ainslie, son Marc, daughter Lynn, grandsons Austin, Kolton and Nicholas, and sister Kathleen Ingalls. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dick, and sisters Mary Ellen Mengle and Patricia Pope. Larry graduated from St, Alphonsus Grade School, O'Dea High School and Seattle University before entering the U.S. Army in 1956. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1958 he went to work for the IRS as an Internal Audit Inspector. He transferred to Phoenix as an IRS agent in 1962, a position he held until he retired in 1989. He earned an M.B.A. degree from ASU in 1975 and was a part-time accounting instructor at Phoenix College until 1999. He coached co-ed basketball at St. Louis the King Grade School from 1990 until 2000. In 2002 he became a volunteer worker in the SS. Simon & Jude Cathedral gift shop and worked there until his passing. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Rosary at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave. Glendale, Arizona 85301 on Monday, November 30, 2015. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM at SS. Simon & Jude Cathedral, 6351 N 27th Ave. Phoenix, Arizona 85017 on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. Interment will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery. The family requests that any remembrances be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Salvation Army, or SS. Simon & Jude Cathedral.
