Woods, Leon A. "Woody"
84, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on December 5, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born in Wayne County, MI, and grew up in the Detroit area. He joined the Michigan Air National Guard, and was activated in 1951, which brought him to Arizona. After falling in love with the desert, he moved to Phoenix in 1958, where he met and married the love of his life, Juanita. He transferred to the Arizona Air National Guard and retired after 33 years of military service. He was also a retired school teacher at Littleton Elementary in Cashion, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita, his parents Ted and Alice Woods, and sister Delores Schuster. He is survived by his loving daughters - Judy Aguilar (Mike), and Lisa Anderson (Craig). Leon was a member of the Garden City Mason's Lodge #587 and just received his 60 year certificate of recognition. He loved to travel, play golf, and spend time with his family, especially at his cabin in the mountains. He enjoyed visiting with his fellow Air Guard Retirees and being a member of the Desert Steiner's Club. A service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024 on December 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leon's memory can be made to , 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix AZ 85014.
