Lila Marie Howard Obituary
Howard, Lila Marie
91, of Phoenix, AZ died Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Born in Wichita, KS Lila moved to Phoenix in 1941 where she met her future husband and love of her life John. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years and survived by her daughter Linda Howard. Both John and Lila were very active in volunteering time to many charitable and worthwhile organizations. Her experiences included 6 years as a March of Dimes board member, past president of the Goodwill Auxiliary, Phoenix Symphony Auxiliary, vice president and board member of the Women's Club of Phoenix, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary Board and Publicity Chairman, Mental Health Board and was asked by Mayor John Driggs to serve on the Board of Adjustment for the City of Phoenix. She also was a member of the John C. Lincoln Hospital Foundation and a founder and Ball Chairman of the Night of Gold Ball which raised substantial funds for hospital equipment. This annual fundraiser is still raising thousands of dollars for the hospital. Lila also served on various church committees. She was well known for her fundraising expertise for all those organizations in which she was affiliated. She'll be missed for her outgoing personality; going the extra mile to make sure every event she chaired had great success and always finding time to be a wonderful mother and wife. Private services will be held. Donations are suggested to the John C. Lincoln Health Foundation, 9100 N. 2nd Street, #301, Phoenix, AZ 85020 and First United Methodist Church, 5510 N. Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85012. Please visit www.hansenmortuary.com for online condolences.
