Lois Virginia Jose Obituary
Jost, Lois Virginia (Alexander)
Dec.4, 1915---Jan. 5, 2016. One month after celebrating her 100th birthday with many family members and friends, Mrs. Lois Jost passed away peacefully while living at La Siena Retirement Community in Phoenix, Arizona. A beautiful, modest woman who was skilled in cooking, loved to entertain, play cards, read, and be with her family. She and her husband, Wilbur, traveled in their RV all over North America. We will always remember the good times we had with her exploring the country, savoring her food, and competing for the best cards. Her name at birth was Lois Virginia Alexander, and she was born at the family farm in Tazewell County near Peoria, Illinois. The farm had been homesteaded by her grandfather, who came from Scotland to raise his family on the fertile high-prairie land of Illinois. Growing corn and soy beans, the farmland is still owned by her family and has been classified by the state as a "Centennial Family Farm." Lois married a local boy, Wilbur Jost, who had attended her high school. They had two daughters and moved to San Antonio Texas. Lois turned into a career woman when the children were teenagers. After retiring from her job as a medical secretary she moved to Phoenix to be near her two granddaughters. Lois and Wilbur celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary in 1998. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur B. Jost; her sister, Geraldine Anderson; and her parents, Laurence and Ada Youle Alexander. She is survived by her daughters, Janis Lamberth (Judge Royce) of Washington D.C. and Karen Lamberth (Larry) of Scottsdale; two granddaughters, Sharon Chisom (Mark) of New York City and Susan Lamberth (Erik Szabados) of Oakland; two great-grandchildren, Zinnia Chisom and Odin Szabados; and numerous wonderful nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, 4455 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley, Arizona, 85253, at 11:00.A.M. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that donations be made in Lois's name to the Paradise Valley Church Memorial Fund.
