Lon D. Durby Obituary
Durby, Lon D.
67, died May 12, 2016. He was born in Forest City, Iowa, moving to Longmont, Colorado as a young child and
finally relocating to Phoenix with his family where he graduated from Alhambra High School. Lon was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp., serving a tour of duty in Vietnam where he earned multiple medals for combat bravery, gallantry and rifle marksmanship. Upon his return from Vietnam he worked many years as a real estate salesman/broker for many new home builders in the valley-namely Hallcraft Homes, Dietz-Crane Homes, D.R. Horton Inc. and Ashton Homes. In his spare time he enjoyed off-roading throughout Arizona, riding his Harley with his "Hog Buddies" to Sturgis and other destinations and playing "Route 66" as he drove his Corvette to the corners of the United States. Upon his retirement he maintained homes in Munds Park, Arizona and Rocky Point, Mexico. He leaves behind his former wife Dorothy, daughter Lisa Dane (Troy), son "Jay" and three grandchildren-Taylor, Hunter and Makenna. Lon is also survived by sisters Gwen Carstens and LoAnn Durby. A private family Celebration Of Life will be held at a future date.
