Lora Irene Nix Obituary
Nix, Lora Irene Hall
86, of Colorado Springs passed away on August 19, 2015, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. In the three and a half months that she was there, all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren got to visit her and tell her good bye on this side of heaven. She was born in Boulder, Colorado June 8th 1929 to Leonard and Hilda Hall. Lora was an excellent and loving schoolteacher for many years. Most of her teaching was in Chandler public schools and a private Christian school. She was a wonderful influence and several of her students informed her as well as her family that they themselves became teachers because of her. Lora loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and prayed for her family and the generations to come. She loved all of her family and she loved dogs, dogs and more dogs! She loved hiking and playing tennis and traveling with her husband, Joe. She also had a servant's heart, and liked doing nice things for others. But her greatest joy, just after she retired from teaching, around 1980, was spending such fun and memorable times with each of her grandchildren and doing unique activities with each one of them individually. So much so, that she was endearingly nick-named "Granny Apple". She had one sister Evelyn/Jackie; who was five years older. She married her high school sweetheart Joe P. Nix June 18th 1949. They were married 65 years. Joe preceded her in death earlier this year on January 13, 2015. She is survived by her daughter Judy (Darius) of Alamosa, CO, three sons, Joe (Rosie) Chandler, AZ, John (Frances) of Colorado Springs, and Jack of Albuquerque, NM. as well as ten grandchildren; Blue, Angie, JP, Faith, Amberlee, Katherine, Audrey, Monica, Lora Jean and Jessica and her nine great grandchildren; Makiah, Kyann, Mikah, Maddie, Brayden, Caden, Kaleb, Conner, and Zeke. Lora was laid to rest next to her husband on the family ranch in Red Wing, CO following a memorial service on August 22, 2015. Rogers Family Mortuary in Alamosa, CO Memorial Gifts can be made to: Mephibosheth Ministry, 1406 Rainier Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80910 (719) 633-4083
