Bohorquez, Luis A.
Luis Arturo was born in South America, on March 18, 1939. He was the fourth member in his family of fourteen brothers and sisters. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Fundacion Universidad de America, en Bogota, Colombia graduating in 1963. He married Margarita in 1964. In January 1965 Luis was granted a scholarship to attend The Northrop University in California to get his Master Degree in Aeronautic Engineering as a foreign student exchange. In 1965 they moved to California to attend school. The scholarship did not materialize so Luis and Margarita had to find work. Luis worked as Design Engineer for Zephyr Mfg. Co. Hi Shear Corporation, Hughes Helicopters, McDonnell Aircraft Co., The Simula Corporation now BAE, and the Boeing Co. retiring in 2004. He received 11 patents during his work for the previous companies. He had the opportunity to work on very advanced projects such as the M242 Chain Gun, 25mm Advanced Ammo, 30mm Chain Gun, Hi Pressure gun, Apache Longbow Helicopter since its beginning as a secret project, the MD Explorer helicopter, the Supersonic Airplane, The Concorde airplane, several classified government projects, a family of Reactionless Torque Wrenches and a family of Positive Drive Pneumatic Drills. He started LABOR Industries, a robotic company in 1974, Advanced Research Engineering in 2004, a Small Business Independent Research Company doing proposals for engineering research for US Government Agencies. Also he had an industrial photographic business in 1995. He was a member of many technical organizations such as DARPA, AHS, AIAA, SAE, etc. He attended classes at UCLA, Stanford, Marymount University and Phoenix University. Luis was a citizen involved in the business of the community. He was a member of the Citizen Commission, Library Board, Park and Recreation Board, City Planning Commission and Boy Scout Troup 281 Manager, City of Inglewood, California. He was a Volunteer for the Library, Museum of Art Center in Tempe, AZ., volunteer at the Tempe High School Robotics Program, Gallery Guide at the Musical Instruments Museum in Phoenix. Luis has 3 children; Luis II, Adriana and Juan; 6 granddaughters; Arielle, Brianna, Athena, Emily, Elda & Taylor, 2 grandsons; Richard and Joey, 3 great-granddaughters; Raegan, Mia and Ella and 1 great-grandson Liam, and his children's spouses Maria and Kevin.
