Lydia Gershman Thalheimer Obituary
Thalheimer, Lydia Gershman
93, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2015. She was an accomplished violist who played with the Phoenix and Sun City Symphonies, and she worked for many years as an accountant at the Arizona Dept. of Corrections. Lydia was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 3, 1922, and lived in Chicago during her youth before settling in Phoenix. A devoted wife and mother, Lydia served as president of the Sisterhood at the Har Zion Congregation and tutored young people for their bar and bat mitzvahs. Loved for her exuberance, warmth and humor, she was a gifted writer, toastmaster, Pillsbury bake-off finalist, dog and bird lover, and foster mother to three children in addition to her son Zach: "she was the best mom this only son could ever have."

She was preceded in death by her husband Lorin Thalheimer and three siblings. She is survived by her son Zachary Thalheimer, brother Andrew Gershman, and ten nieces and nephews.
