Swanson, Lylah V.
July 3, 1915 - June 10, 2016. In Memory of Lylah V. Swanson, 100, passed away on June 10, 2016 in St. Augustine, FL. Born in South Dakota to Oscar David and Ida Marie (Palmquist) Anderson and raised near Unityville, she graduated from Salem HS and Mankato State Teachers College, and taught in South Dakota and San Bernardino, California before retiring to Calimesa, CA, Sun City West, AZ, and finally St. Augustine, FL. Lylah was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Stanley W. Swanson, in 2013, by her brother, Clarence "Kay" Anderson in 1944, and by her sister, Ida Evangeline "Vange" Anderson Renshaw (Robert) in 2013. She is survived by her sister Gaylee Anderson Thorsness (Leo), nieces Sandra Renshaw (James Lindberg), Dawn Thorsness, Beverly Swanson, and Susan Renshaw McComber (Mike), great nieces Sara Swanson, Loni McComber Swaney (Robert), Sara Thorsness, and Anna Thorsness, and great great niece Andrea Cornish, nephews David Swanson, Timothy Renshaw, and great nephews Joshua Swanson, Christopher Cornish, and Corey McComber (Mackenzie). Lylah loved and served the Lord. She was baptized in the German Baptist Church in Unityville, SD and remained active in churches throughout her life. We invite you to join us at the Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 13658 W Meeker Blvd, Sun City West, AZ (623) 584-2280, for a service in her memory at 2:00 pm on July 27, 2016 with light refreshments following.
