Magdalena Salgado

Obituary Condolences

Salgado, Magdalena (Nana)
Our beloved mother and nana, Magdalena Salgado 81, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2015, in Phoenix, Arizona surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 17, 1934 in El Paso, Texas, to Manuel and Manuela Jacobo. She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan. Magdalena was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, and was known for her generous spirit and kind hearted nature. Magdalena, known as "Maggie" to her colleagues, taught for over 20 years in the Roosevelt School District in the Head Start program, where she was revered and a mentor to many. Above all Magdalena's many roles and accomplishments in her life, her greatest passion was being a loving nana to her 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren-instilling in them the same compassion and devotion that she lived throughout her life. Her legacy will continue to live on in her family. She will also be missed by her surviving siblings, Concha, Jesus, Salvador and Esparanza; and her five children, Juan (Sylvia), David (Alicia), Steve, Rick (MaryHelen), and Gloria Santa Cruz (Paul). A celebration of her life will be held Friday, October
16th, at Resthaven/Carr Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens, 4310 E. Southern Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85042. Viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., immediately followed by a memorial service.
