Malcolm F. "Skip" Wharton Obituary
Wharton, Malcolm "Skip" F.
64, passed away Tuesday August 18, 2015 with family and friends at his side. Skip was born in Phoenix to Mac and Nan Wharton. After attending Hopi Elementary he graduated from Camelback High School where he was a good student and athlete. The close friends he made at Hopi School remained his friends for the rest of his life. Later he graduated from ASU with a BS in microbiology and also a master's degree. Over the years he traveled extensively and was believed to have visited nearly nineteen countries, most recently India and Nepal. Skip's mother Nan passed away in 2001; however, his father still lives in the Phoenix area. Brothers John and Brad are also in Phoenix. Brother Brian, sadly, passed away earlier this year. Skipper had a special fondness for his niece Lianne and his nephews Brian, Tim, and Dino. He also adored Cheryl, Lacey, Bruce's wife Jeanette, and his old flame Cathy. He will be fondly remembered for his twisted wit and his charm. The family would like to thank his friends for being so thoughtful and caring during his lengthy illness, with a special, heartfelt thank you to his good friend, Bruce Brown who was like a brother. The date and location of memorial services are yet to be determined but it is expected that a memorial will be scheduled in September after the return of Skip's most revered Buddhist monk, ZaChoeje Rinpoche. Contact Johnwharton@cox.net for details. In lieu of flowers, nominal donations could be sent to the local non-profit Buddhist group: Emaho Foundation, Inc. P.O. Box 1563, Litchfield Park, AZ 85340.
