Marilyn Pierce Obituary
Pierce, Marilyn
Marilyn R. Pierce 75, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 in Yuma, Arizona from complications due to an extended illness. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grand mother, great grandmother and sister. Born October 1, 1940, in Grant, MI, Marilyn moved with her family when she was just 6 years old to Buckeye, Arizona where she attended Palo Verde Elementary School and Buckeye Union High School. Marilyn's parents, Edith and Elton Lake, were employees of Palo Verde Elementary School and raised their family of six children in a house on the school grounds. Marilyn loved spending time with her family and traveling. She loved to water ski and stay on the boat at Lake Powell. She spent her summers in the White Mountains at their summer home in Pinetop. She would play dominos and Skip-Bo for hours on end and loved to teach the grand children how to play. Marilyn never missed acknowledging a birthday by sending friends cards and giving family the perfect gift. She had an intense love for babies, not only her own grandchildren and great grandchildren, but any baby she happened to encounter, and she would pick them up and hold them whenever she had the chance. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ted; her children, Terre (Joe) Catanzaro of Yuma, AZ, Tracy (Greg) Jacobson of Buckeye, AZ, Greg (Kim) Pierce of Buckeye, AZ, Tammy Pierce of Buckeye, AZ, Stan Pierce of Litchfield Park, AZ; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Sisters, Jacque (Ed) Hunter of Buckeye, AZ, Joanie (Harold) Sanders of Topok, AZ, Buck (Pat) Lake of Goodyear, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Elton Lake, sisters Gloria Petersen, Barbara Clayton and grandson, Orin Porter Jacobson.
