Martin Hopper passed quietly Sunday July 17 at his home in Peoria, AZ, surrounded by his wife of 61 years, Darlene Mae Abernathy Hopper and his children, David, Janet (Jim Smith) and Marcia (Dan Hyte). He served 3 years rising to Staff Sargent in the US Air Force before receiving an honorable discharge on October 20, 1952. On November 6 1954 he married Darlene, together they had three children, 3 grand children Jennifer Leigh Hopper, Logan Andrew Smith and Siera Jeanette Hyte and 5 great grandchildren, Leighann Michelle Fraley, Trevor Andrew Fraley, Noemi Joon Gleason-Hyte, Gabriel Logan Smith and Katherine Isabel Hopper. He is also survived by one sister Dona Kay Rowe of Oklahoma, a brother in law, Larry Stuard, two sisters in law, Wanda Rhodes and Bonnie Sarconi. He had many nieces and nephews. He retired from Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 104 and began working for the State of Arizona from which he retired 5 years later. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a contribution to the USO. Family and friends are invited to attend a Committal Service at 10:30am Friday, July 22, 2016 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix.
