She lived in Oak Lawn and Orland Park, and was a dedicated Girl Scout Troop Leader for several years. In 1984 the Fliszar family moved to Phoenix, where she lived in Scottsdale and later Cave Creek with Joe. She learned to sew in high school and was very creative, spending much time throughout her life sewing and crafting. In more recent years she took up quilting, creating beautiful quilts for family, friends, the First Way Pregnancy Center in Phoenix and the San Carlos Mission in Globe. She was part of the Sew Sisters quilting group, many of whom had battled cancer, and was a 4+ year survivor of breast cancer herself. Maryann was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her husband, Joe, daughters Barbara Sanner (husband Tim) and Karen Bennett (husband Tim, also), her two grandchildren, Grace Anne and Timothy Michael, as well as an extended step-family through Barbara's marriage. A devout Roman Catholic, she will be remembered at a wake at 9am on Fri, Nov 27, with a funeral Mass immediately following at 10am, both at Our Lady of Joy Catholic Church, 36811 N Pima Road, Carefree, AZ. Interment to follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted at Our Lady of Joy for the benefit of the San Carlos Mission in Globe, AZ, in memoriam of Maryann S. Fliszar.
