Michal Grace Haynes Obituary
Haynes, Michal Grace
Michal Grace (Cave) Haynes, known to her friends as "Mickie," passed away at age 70 on Monday, December 21, 2015, in her home in Phoenix, Arizona. Mickie was born June 6, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland to Troy H. Cave and Vergie Ellamae (Farmer) Cave, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of fifty years, William Haynes; her daughter Shannon Estes; sons Adam and Michael Haynes; two grandchildren, Houston and Sarah Estes; only sister, Opal Marie Cave; nephew Peter Castiglione; and niece Anna Kroner. As a child, Mickie lived mostly in West Virginia, where she was graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1963 and worked for the Chesapeake and Potomac Phone Company for a few years. In 1968, Mickie and William moved to Colorado, where their three children were born. In 1974, they moved to Phoenix, where Mickie entered the antique doll and miniature world and developed a love and appreciation for the vintage and the rare. She became known, not only as a collector of some of the finest dollhouses, but also for her extensive dollhouse restorations. Mickie died of cancer after a four-month battle. A private service was held.
