Mildred Golden Obituary
Golden, Mildred
Mildred Golden, 93, passed away on Wednesday, November 25 in Phoenix. Mildred (also variously known as Mil, Millie, Mom, Grandma and Bubbe) was born on September 16, 1922 in Philadelphia. Mildred, the oldest of eight sisters, was the daughter of Bessie and Michael Cooper. Mildred met Irv, her future husband, on December 31, 1945. They were married less than six months later and remained happily married for 54 years until Irv passed away in 2000. Mildred helped support her family as a full-time bookkeeper for her entire adult life until she retired 25 years ago. Mildred and Irv moved to Phoenix in 1958 with their son Robert (Bob). Mildred has been a member of Beth El Congregation for 57 years. She was President of Beth El Sisterhood in the 1960's and remained very active in the congregation for many years after that. Mildred is survived by her son Robert and his wife Teri; granddaughter Amy; grandson Rick and his wife Cheryl; great-grandchildren Isaac, Andrea, and Erica; and sisters Esther and Rochelle. She will be forever remembered for her incessant and often humorous stories of growing up in Philadelphia with a gaggle of younger sisters; for her incredible passion for cooking, baking, and food in general; and for her uncompromising love of family. Graveside services will be at Beth El Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren Street, Phoenix on Friday, November 27 at 10:00 a.m. Contributions in Mildred's memory are suggested to Beth El Congregation, 1118 W. Glendale Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85021 or Beatitudes Campus, Memorial Fund, 1610 W. Glendale Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85021. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.
