Molly Mililani Larson Obituary
Larson, Molly Mililani
1933-2016. Resident of Sun City, Arizona; Loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grand-mother, great grand-mother and friend. Molly Larson of Sun City, Arizona passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 10, 2016 with her family by her side after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was 83 years old. Molly Mililani Thornton was born on May 3, 1933 and was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was the oldest daughter of Molly and Charles Thornton. A few years after graduating from McKinley High School, she met the love of her life, Rodney Larson, a lieutenant in the Air Force. When Rodney was discharged from the Air Force, they moved to the mainland to get married and raise their family. First and foremost, Molly was a wife and mother. She was strong, loving and hard-working, always putting her family first. While raising her children, Molly pursued several other passions. She earned her degree in nursing and went on to have a much-loved career as a registered nurse. This was her true passion: caring for others. She also took painting lessons and created works of art that her family will forever cherish. She and Rodney loved to travel and experienced some of their best memories while exploring new places. She enjoyed collecting coins, stamps and beanie babies, playing cards and slot machines, antiquing, and doing puzzles. She also had a well-developed sweet tooth - her favorite desserts were tiramisu, cookies, and ice cream. Molly and Rodney were married for 58 years and have four children: Gloria and Renee Larson of Phoenix, Arizona, Ann Sheridan of San Jose, California and David Larson of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Zachary and Jessy Lien of Denver Colorado, Heather, Lauren, and Becca Sheridan of San Jose, California, and Marissa Larson of Denver, Colorado as well as three great grandchildren: Madison DeSousa, Reese Shneider and Jace Lien, all of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by her siblings Lani Dias, Mamo, Pauline and Paul Thornton as well as nieces Stephanie Sandoval-Dias, Maile Okuma and nephew Billy Dias. She is predeceased by her brother Charles Thornton Jr. Molly was the heart and soul of her family. Her sweet, kind and loving spirit will always be with us. A private family service will be held in Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial donations may be made in honor of Molly's life to: Friends of Iolani Palace, Iolani Palace, P.O. Box 2259, Honolulu, Hawaii 96804.
