Monica Margaret "Mickey" Denomme Obituary
Denomme, Monica ("Mickey") Margaret
passed peacefully on the morning of July 27th, 2016 at her home in Scottsdale, Arizona after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 77 years old when she passed and was surrounded by love. Monica was born on October 18th, 1938 to Ross and Monica Elliott in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She had five siblings; Ann, Jean, Helen, Frances, and Ross. She was raised and attended school in Windsor where she enjoyed all types of sports, especially baseball. At the age of 18 she met the love of her life, Denis Denomme. They married on October 3rd, 1959 in Windsor. Together, they raised four healthy children, built several businesses in, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario, Canada, and created an incredible love story that would last for nearly sixty years. Denis and Monica settled in Scottsdale, Arizona, first as "Snowbirds" and then as permanent residents. It was here that Monica discovered a love of photography and was often sought out at community gatherings for picture taking. She could sew, paint and was a much better handyman than Denis. She was known for her prowess at the slot machines and loved to go to the casino often, with her good friend Emma. Monica was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend, who had a heart of gold and a true faith in the goodness of people. Her strength was an inspiration for those around her. Monica is pre-deceased by her sisters, Ann Laforest, Jean Renaud, Helen Spriggs, and Frances Curtis. She is survived by her loving husband, Denis Denomme; her brother Ross Elliott; her children David Denomme, Thomas Denomme, Sandra Naccarato, and Linda Denomme; her grandchildren Jessica, Louis, Denis, Scott, Alexander, Luke, Nicholas, and MacKenzie; and her great-grandchildren Teagen, Aidan, Jade and Levi. A viewing will be held between 8:30-9:15 AM on Saturday, July 30th, 2016 at Messenger Indian School Mortuary (7601 E. Indian School Rd. Scottsdale AZ). This will be followed by a 10:00 AM mass at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church at 6261 North Granite Reef Road, Scottsdale AZ.
