Nancy & Neily were inseparable.

August 26, 2020

From birth to middle school and then later in life, after our divorces, we were inseparable. There was only 13 months difference in age and when my Mom said, "This is your little brother, Neil Lee Neroni," I heard Neily Neroni and called him that until I was old enough to know better. Mom also said that my first day of kindergarten Neily waited all day by the big picture window for me to come home. When I came home, I ran to Neily's room to lay out some good clothes. Mom asked what I was doing and I said, "I'm taking Neily to school tomorrow it is show and tell." I also found out at an early age that he was my partner in crime like when we colored the family room wall purple and when I heard Mom coming I shoved my crayon in Neily's hand and said, Neily did it." Mom made Neily and I stand at the wall and reach as high as we could proving there was no way he could reach as high as the coloring.
Later, when Neil was in middle school and I a freshman in high school, Neil got into dirt bikes and finally purchased his first bike a BMW. He told me he was going to check it out first and would come back to take me for a ride. As he took off on the dirt bike I ran and jumped on the back causing the bike and the both of us to go
through the neighbor's fence. He never got mad he just shook his head and said you have to go to school tomorrow with road rash all over your chin. After my divorce he took me to Rocky Point with his friends. He said, Now look we sleep in a tent on the beach and there is no place to get your nails fixed if you break one and I'll take you to shower on Saturday night before we go out to dinner the rest of the time we are roughing it." I was doing fine until I slipped on some rocks and fell on the shells I was collecting and he had to take me for medical treatment, thankfully the AirEvac crew had a cabin and they were able to take care of me. I could go on and on the truth of it is he never got upset with me and took care of me always. We were best buds and he the greatest brother a girl could ask for we had some good times!

The day Neil left this earth was a very sad day for everyone who knew this amazing man! I can only hope to be like him as a friend and parent in life. This guy always had a smile on his face and he lived for his daughter and two granddaughters! I feel so blessed to have had Neil in my life when I was a little girl and as an adult. I will miss him and his big smile but I will never forget the fun times we had like riding in his Jeep and going to hunted houses! God bless you Dad Neil and may you watch over Paula from heaven XO.
