Hatch, Orland Reed
Orland Reed Hatch, born on August 1, 1927, passed away at his home in Gilbert, AZ on January 19, 2016. Orland was born in Woodruff, Arizona, the 10th of 15 children, to Albert and Zina Brinkerhoff Hatch. His life was one of gentle service and hard work. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon meeting and marrying his sweetheart Vida Lamoreaux, his wife of nearly 68 years, he left the military and took up farming with her father David Crockett Lamoreaux. He and Vida then purchased property where they raised their six children and farmed the land. He has been active in the community, serving as a member of the Salt River Project Council for over 37 years and as a bishop and patriarch for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He is survived by two sisters: Grace (Merlyn) Pulsipher of Stockton, MO and Janell (Gerald) Ferguson of Sun City, AZ as well as by his six children: Gary (Jilene) Hatch of Willcox, AZ; Arleen (Bert) Goodman of Gilbert; Beth (Troy) Phillips of Tucson; Julie (Curtis) Nolan of Willcox; Dena (Rory) Baysinger of Gilbert; and Justin (Mila) Hatch of Gilbert. He has 44 grandchildren and 100 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22 from 6:00-8:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2740 S Lindsay Road, Gilbert, AZ. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10:00 am with a viewing beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will be at Mesa City Cemetery, 1212 N Center Street, Mesa, AZ on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 9:00 am.
