Patricia "Pat" Rhodes Obituary
Rhodes, Patricia "Pat"
was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 27, 1921 to Dixie Ingersoll and Byron C. Goss. Pat married James Rhodes in 1946 and moved to Seattle, WA, where they raised their five children. After her divorce in 1964, Pat became a snowbird, splitting her time between Seattle and Paradise Valley, AZ. Pat was involved with many charitable and advocacy groups, and she was particularly active in her support of Planned Parenthood and Arizonians Concerned About Smoking. A voracious reader with boundless intellectual curiosity, Pat was knowledgeable about history, gems and minerals, Native American culture, and a range of other topics. Pat was also an enthusiastic world traveler with an adventurous spirit, traveling extensively both with family and alone. Pat was a devoted mother and grandmother who was instrumental in keeping her large and loving family connected as they settled in locations across the country. Pat spent the last three years of her life in the Silverado Memory Care facility, where she received frequent visits from her children and grandchildren, as well as almost daily visits from her devoted friend of 24 years, Desmond Shamos. She passed away peacefully on June 13, 2016. Pat is survived by her three sons James Scott Rhodes, Jr. and wife Holly Rhodes of Redmond, WA; John Rockland Rhodes, Sr. and wife Mercy Rhodes of Tucson, AZ; Richard Rhodes and wife Nancy Bolin of Falls Church, VA; her two daughters Barbara Johnson and husband Ron Fandrick of Elma, WA; and Dixie Havlak and husband Dirk Havlak of Olympia, WA; and her many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her Celebration of Life is scheduled for September 3 in Scottsdale, AZ. For information contact HavlakRD@comcast.net.
