The nearly 91-year life journey of Paul Herbert Clark, which began in Rockford, Illinois, on EasterSunday, April 1, 1923, came to a peaceful conclusion last Wednesday, March 19, at the Dobson Home hospice in Chandler, Arizona. By his side, as she has been for more than 69 years, was his high school sweetheart turned wife Marty. Together, Paul and Marty raised a family of four children, which eventuallygrew to include seven grandchildren. The only thing Paul loved as much as his family was his country, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II. Of all the positions he held during his lifetime - which included electrician, salesman and computer programmer - he was most proud of his work as a Master Technical Sergeant for Marine Aircraft Group 23. An avid outdoorsman and amateur prospector, Paul felt most at home in nature, which is why he chose to live the last 30 years of his life surrounded by the beauty of the Arizona desert in the town of Wickenburg. Paul will be laid to rest with full military honors at Phoenix Memorial Park at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 24. In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his daughter Paula Bonner of Gilbert, Arizona; and sons Terry Clark of Crofton, Maryland; Brian Clark of Hereford, Arizona; and Wes Clark of Lake Forest, California. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Paul may make a donation in his name to the military veterans' charitable organization of their choice.
