Vice, Paul Henry
of Sun Lakes died on March 22, 2016 at the age of 95. Paul was born in Germany on Dec. 16, 1920, the son of Henry Grady Vice, a WWI soldier, and his German war bride, Gertrude Wolf Vice. He grew up in Kansas and served in the Army during WWII. After the war, he attended Ottawa University in Kansas on the GI Bill. While attending college, he supported his growing family by working as a policeman until he was recruited to be an agent of the FBI. Paul spent most of his career in various law enforcement jobs. During the mid-1950s, he headed Planning and Research for the Kansas City Mo. Police Department. Paul brought his family to Phoenix in 1958, where he worked for the Nat'l Board of Fire Underwriters. Paul eventually founded and was president of the Bulwark Corporation, which performed private investigations in Arizona. Paul's last job was as an administrator and instructor of police studies at Garden City Community College in Kansas. Paul was devoted to his Baptist faith, dedicated to his job, and passionate about his love for his country. Paul was predeceased in 2001 by his wife, Myrtle, and is survived by his three children, Carole Piersanti (Frank), Dianne Safford, and David Vice as well as his three grandchildren, Jeff Shaw, Julie Shaw and John Webb (Machele). He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, John, Scott and Sara Webb, and one great-great-grandchild, Bella Webb. Private services are being planned.
