Peter Caliri, 76, of Surprise, Arizona, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at home, following recent heart surgery. He was born and grew up in Quincy, Massachusetts. After high school, he served with the U.S. Navy as a Quartermaster. After concluding his service in the Navy, he began a long career of managing large retail stores in Massachusetts and New York. Upon retirement, he moved to Florida. He eventually settled in Surprise, Arizona, and worked part-time in various Walgreens stores where he thoroughly enjoyed the staff and customers. In New York, he met his beloved wife, Marie. They were happily married for 35 years, enjoying golfing, travel and community service in their Florida community. Marie predeceased Peter in October of 2005. Peter is survived by his children: Deb DeBrino (Gary) of Scottsdale, Scott Discount (Seann) of New York and Alan Discount (Patti) of Fontana, CA and five grandchildren: Nicole Welker (Chris), Jennifer Crawford (Harrison), Lindsay DeBrino, Nicole Keaton (Greg) and Jake Discount. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Xander and Oliver Keaton and Abby and Autumn Welker. His siblings are Ann Bunker of Vancouver, Canada, Robert (Elaine) of Quincy, Massachusetts and Richard (Elizabeth) of Granville, Tennessee, as well as several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at The Hansen Desert Mortuary Memorial Park, 6500 East Bell Road, Scottsdale at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 26.
