Mills, Robert Charles
August 7, 1922-September 8, 2013. Robert C. "Bob" Mills, who never met a person who wasn't a friend, died peacefully at home September 8. While we deeply mourn the loss of his incomparable company, we also celebrate the good long life of this man who was much loved over many years by all who knew him. He was born in Leadville, Colorado August 7, 1922 to H.F. "Hap" and Helen Mills. Bob Mills was married in 1947 to Mathilde Edith "Edie" Garrison, who died in 1998. He was preceded in death by his sister Edith Mills Hicks and brother John F. Mills. He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Mills and sister, Barbara Mills Johnson, and by seven nephews and nieces and their offspring. Bob Mills graduated from Prescott High in 1940, served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. He remained in the Air Force Reserve until he retired as a lieutenant colonel. The following year he formed a life-enhancing friendship with his neighbor Nancy Kemp. Bob Mills worked in the hard rock mining industry throughout the western U.S., Mexico, and Canada as a sales engineer and sales manager providing equipment and specialty castings. He was an active member of the American Institute of Mining Engineers. On his retirement from Capitol Castings in 1986, he continued as a consultant.
