Evans, Robert D.
82, of Palm Springs, CA passed away on February 24, 2016. Bob attended and graduated from Madison #1, North Phoenix High School, Phoenix College, and Arizona State University. Bob played four years of varsity football at North High. He was married on March 7th 1953 to Sandra Merritt, his high school sweetheart. Shortly after they were married, he was drafted into the army during the Korean War. He finished his college education after returning from his tour in the army. While finishing college, he started 20th Century Drywall, to help cover the costs of his college education and young family. After graduating with a degree in Micro-Biology, he continued his business career in the construction and real-estate development industries. He was partners with Arnie Petersen and owned Homes By Union Construction Company. R.D. Evans Construction and R. D. Evans Development continued his 30-plus year career in Phoenix. He was a member of the Young Men's 20/30 Club. He was an active member and eventual President of the North Phoenix Rotary Club in the 80's. One of his favorite gatherings with his buddies and their wives was the "Dump of the Month". He played tennis and hunted in Arizona. He was a private pilot and had a great group of fellow travelers called "Polmex"; he flew all around Mexico, to the Bahamas, and across the United States. He was known among his flying buddies as "Blue Sky Bob". Life was always going to be good with Bob. Preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Diane Evans, his son, Dean Evans, Jr., and his grandson, Dean Evans. He is survived by his wife, children, first wife, younger brother, and first cousin; Vickie Evans, David Evans, Andrea (Evans) Moseley, Donald Evans, Sandra (Evans) Seward, H. Lee Evans, and Susie (Henley) Wissenger; his grandchildren, Ashlee (Evans) Chapman, Amanda (Evans) Noland, Jocelyn (Portney) Brown, Whitney Moseley, Joe Moseley, Alyssa (Evans) Golden, Julie Evans, Ryan Evans, Elizabeth Evans, and Reed Evans. A celebration of life will be held at the home of Andrea & Will Moseley on March 12th at 3:00.
