McCracken, Robert Ellis Jr.
passed peacefully from this life into the arms of Jesus on November 2, 2105 at his home in Goodyear, Az. Bob was born in Springfield, Illinois on November 15, 1935. He was the first of two sons born to Robert and Miriam McCracken. His family moved to the Los Angeles area in 1943. After graduating from Bell High School in Bell, California in 1954, he enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served in Japan after the Korean War. Afterward, he began working for Pacific Bell in various positions, retiring as an Engineer after 37 years of service. A lifelong, avid golfer, Bob belonged to several Golf Associations over the years and served as Tournament Directory for the Ventura County Golf Association from 1992-2004. He received Life Membership in the Telephone Pioneers of American after active membership of well over a decade, serving as President of Mission Chapter #72 in 1978-79 and 1981-82. As an enthusiastic, skilled bowler, he participated in hundreds of leagues and tournaments over the years and was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also passionate about national and international travel and explored many amazing places. A long-time resident of Ventura County Bob moved to Arizona in 2005. Bob is survived and will be missed by longtime companion, Edna Louise Carrier; his son, Bill McCracken; daughter, Sheri Donovan; son-in-law, Brian Donovan; four grandsons, a granddaughter, his brother, Byron McCracken; along other family members and friends. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 10 am at Ventura Missionary Church, 500 High Point Drive, Ventura, California, with a reception immediately following.
