82 of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on May 31, 2013. Robert was born in Platteville, Wisconsin on February 18, 1931 to Martin and Erna Adickes who ran a dairy farm in Belmont, WI. He graduated high school in 1949 from Dr. Martin Lutheran High School in New Ulm, Minnesota. He later attended the State University in Platteville. After two years, his college career was interrupted when the Korean War broke out and he enlisted in the Air Force. Receiving an honorable discharge form the Air Force in 1952 to help on the farm after his Dad suffered a heart attack, he then continued his major of Agriculture and Science at the University of Platteville. After graduating in January of 1961 with a Bachelor of Science, Secondary Education Degree, he accepted a call to head the science department and teach at the newly formed Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills, WI. In 1964 he received a grant to attend the University of Michigan where he earned a Master of Science (Biology) Degree the following year. He was called in 1978 to Phoenix, AZ to start and be principal of Arizona Lutheran Academy. In 1999 he retired after serving 21 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn, and their 8 children, Mark, Christine, Daniel, Steven, Marilyn (Hassler), Timothy, Elizabeth (Adams), and Philip; 20 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his one brother, David. A memorial service will take place at Arizona Lutheran Academy, 6036 S. 27th Avenue on Saturday, June 15 at 5:00pm. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, Glendale.
