Hocken, Robert William
87, passed away September 24, 2016. Robert "Bob" Hocken is an Arizona native born September 21, 1929 in Phoenix Arizona to O.E "Ed" Hocken and Helen Ida Hocken. Living his young life in Phoenix he later joined the Air Force and traveled extensively. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and served our country for 27 years. First he was a pilot and later worked in security and law enforcement. He recently celebrated his 60 year marriage to Mary on July 7. They travelled in the US and abroad for his career in the Air Force. He retired as Colonel in 1976 and returned to live in the Phoenix area. He began working for Phoenix Transit and became the General Manager and retired from that position in 1995. Bob loved to fly and he shared a plane with his great friends John and Phil and flew for fun. Bob liked to fish, camp and putter around the yard. In addition to his loving wife Mary, Bob is survived by his five children Cathy Kahlow (Howard), Bob Hocken Jr. (Jill), Gary Hocken, Ann Scerbo (Anthony), Mark Hocken and seven grandchildren Kendra, Austin, Robert, Anthony, Jessica, Chase and Alexis. A very special and heartfelt Thank You to the loving staff at Barton House who helped both Bob and Mary and the family. Graveside military honor services will be held on September 30 at 1pm at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on the corner of Pinnacle Peak & Cave Creek Roads, entrance from Pinnacle Peak Road.
