Roberta Lee Groves Obituary
Groves, Roberta Lee
Named after General Robert E Lee, she proved to be true to her namesake, Roberta passed away June 29th at St Josephs hospital, due to unforeseen complications with surgery. She had just celebrated her 84th birthday on Friday the 24th . Roberta was the daughter of Paul and Agnes Comer and little sister to Paul M. Comer all who were waiting for her as she crossed over. She attended Globe schools, graduated from Globe High School and enjoyed attending many high school reunions with her fellow classmates. In 1950, Roberta married Norman Groves, the love of her life (deceased in 2001). Together they had one daughter, Catherine Clark (her husband Gary Clark), two grandchildren, Megan and Kenneth Clark and one great granddaughter, Dallas Lenzi whom she loved dearly. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Sophie, one of many dogs she adopted and cared for in her life. Roberta worked for many years with Mountain Bell, but is best known for her work as the Cafeteria Manager for Globe Public Schools. There she worked with her friends for nearly 25 years, and they made their famous cinnamon rolls, doughnut holes, and fresh homemade bread for all the students. Roberta is survived by many nieces and nephews, who she loved to take fishing in the White Mountains and had many dear friends throughout the state. No public services or memorial will be held per her request. The family will have a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to can make a donation in Roberta's name to her favorite charity, the Gila County Humane Society.
