Gray, Rod
of Phoenix passed away on August 6, 2015. He was born in 1930 and was raised in Lawrenceburg, Indiana by his parents, James and Nellie Gray. He studied at Purdue University in pursuit of his pharmaceutical degree. His education was interrupted when he applied for induction into the Army in 1953. After serving in post-war Germany, he returned to Purdue and completed his degree. Rod married Carolyn Dennerline in 1957 and had a son, Brad. He moved his family from Indiana to Arizona in 1963 and had a daughter, Jennifer. He took a job at Fountain's Pharmacy and later took a position at Doctor's Hospital and remained there until 1995 when he retired. During his career, he was a member of the Arizona Pharmaceutical Association, the Rotary Club, and the Medical Arts Program at Phoenix Union High School. He spent many happy hours serving with his son's Boy Scout troop. Rod enjoyed family outings and activities such as gardening, hiking, hunting, playing cards, woodworking and genealogy. He enjoyed traveling, visiting all fifty states and many foreign countries. Rod leaves behind his wife Carolyn of 58 years, his son Brad Gray (wife Patty), daughter Jennifer Yazdan (husband Joe), and granddaughters Allison and Stephanie Gray. Memorial services will be held at Valley Presbyterian Church, located at 6947 E McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley, Arizona on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 12:00 PM.
