Anderson, Roy Vernon
passed away at the age of 77 on October 11, 2015, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Roy was born to Elmer and Marie Anderson in Chicago, Illinois, on October 2, 1938. Roy was a kind and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, coworker and friend. Following in his father, mother and brother's footsteps in the telephone industry, Roy started his career in electrical engineering at ITT and finished his career with Vodavi Communications in Phoenix, AZ. Early in his career, Roy was introduced to his wife of 48 years Rita Lapczynski by his brother-in-law Lou Gamboa. Roy and Rita married on April 27, 1967, and resided in Schaumburg, IL until 1983 when they moved to Raleigh, NC and later to Scottsdale, AZ in 1986. During their 50+ years together, the Andersons focused on family. They had 3 children, Lisa Anderson, Greg Anderson and Brian Anderson and one grandchild Dylan Anderson. They participated in sports, school activities, clubs and the like as his focus was family. Roy also loved travel, stemming from his parents' love for travel and so after his retirement, the entire family went on a trip each year, starting with Hawaii as a 2nd honeymoon and continuing with trips to visit family, friends and interesting places. Roy was a beloved brother to Bob (Marge) Anderson and brother-in-law to Martha (Lowell) Anderson, Joan Ziomek of Scottsdale and Therese (Louis) Gamboa of Mesa. Roy was a beloved uncle to Bob Anderson, Karin (Rod) Molidor, Susan (Duane) Morse and Renee (Eric) Hukkanen. A celebration of his life will be held at St. Pat rick's Catholic Church (10815 N 84th St, Scottsdale, AZ 85260) on Saturday, October 24th at 10 am. Burial will follow at Paradise Memorial Gardens.
