Shippee, Royal E.
Royal E. Shippee, 90, of Gilbert, a WWII Veteran, died on April 21, 2016 at the Lund Family Hospice Home. He was born to Giles and Maude (Graham) Shippee on May 6, 1925 on the Shippee Farm near McConnell, IL. He was a 1943 graduate of Orangeville (IL) High School. Royal joined the Army in 1944. He married Beulah Trimble on September 22, 1948. As a young man, he earned his private pilot's license and enjoyed flying his own plane. Royal worked at his family's business, Shippees' Farm Store. He began working part-time with the Stephenson County Sheriff's Dept. in 1950. Wanting to get out of cold weather, he and Beulah moved to AZ. After 20 years as an officer with the Chandler Police Dept., he retired in 1984. Royal loved a good day of fishing and was a Chicago Cubs Spring Training season ticket-holder for many years. He belonged to the Masons and was a lifetime member of AMVETS. He is survived by his wife, Beulah, a son, Steven (Barb) Shippee of Gilbert, a daughter, Barbara Shippee, of Chandler; two grand-daughters, Fara and Emily Shippee of Gilbert, a niece, Mary (Maurice) Wagner, of Pecatonica, IL, two grandnephews, one grandniece, four great-grandnephews, and two great-grandnieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two nephews. Family Services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Mesa, AZ. A memorial will be established
