Upon graduating, he married Colleen at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chandler, September 6, 1954. After completing his full-time military service in 1956, Rudy and Colleen returned to Chandler, where Rudy joined the family business, Serrano's Department Stores. For the next 25 years Rudy, and his brother Ernie, worked side by side to build a successful retail business. In 1979, Rudy joined Central Real Estate in Chandler as a commercial and residential realtor with his partners: Gene Hickey, Jim Cullumber and Mike Hickey. He retired from Central Real Estate in 2009. Rudy was active in the Downtown Chandler Merchant's Association, Rotary International and the Knights of Columbus. Rudy's later years were spent golfing at White Mountain Country Club in Pinetop.
