Benjamin, Selden (Ben)
Selden Benjamin, 85, of Peoria, AZ passed away on October 17th at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Framingham, MA. on Nov. 6, 1929 he was the son of George and Clara Benjamin, and the twin brother of Gordon Benjamin. He attended elementary school in Framingham and high school in Oxnard, Calif. He joined the United States Army Air Corps which later became the U.S. Air Force and he retired after 22 years of service. He married Eileen Haynes of Natick, MA in 1955 and they traveled to many bases while he completed his military career. They settled in Phoenix, AZ in 1968 raising their 5 children while he worked for Standard Brands Paint Co, until retiring in 1988 to Peoria, AZ. They loved traveling and together took many road trips around the country sightseeing & visiting family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eileen; their children Susan (Norman) Bonifay, Jacksonville, FL; Michael, Peoria, AZ; Mary (Richard) Brown, Bishop, TX; Joanne (Perry) Dunn, Glendale, AZ; and Margaret Renstrom, Peoria, AZ.; 16 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Besides his loving parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Constance Kirk; brothers George, Jr; Russell, Richard, twin Gordon, Douglas and Robert Benjamin. Selden was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was always cheerful and he will be missed by all who knew him. Service will be Nov. 17th, 10:00 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85024 arranged by The National Cremation Society, 4460 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ. 85018
