Seymour Sacks Obituary
Seymour (Sy) Sacks, 79, passed away at home in Scottsdale, Arizona on December 23, 2011. Born in Brooklyn, New York he has been a resident of the valley for the past 52 years. Sy was a founding partner of Sacks Tierney P.A., Attorneys. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. A Harvard educated lawyer, he left his position with the U.S. Department of Justice to pursue a future in private practice. His passions were his law practice, his family, friends and many community organizations such as Planned Parenthood, Jewish Federation and Scottsdale Healthcare. He is survived by his sons; Erik (Marilena) Sacks and Gary (Nerissa) Sacks and daughter Karen (Bruce) Spiegel as well as five grandsons; Charles, Jacob, Louis, David, and Liam. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Star M. Sacks. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 26, at 12:00 pm in Mount Sinai Cemetery, 24210 North 68th Street, Phoenix, Arizona (Pinnacle Peak Road and 68th Street). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Negev Foundation, 2121 South Green Road Suite 210, Cleveland, Ohio 44121 or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85014. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary.

I met Sy and Star while Star was being treated @ the oncology office where I worked. What an amazing woman Star was and Sy was always such a support for her. I walked into the Virginia Piper Cancer Center this morning and was admiring a painting that was donated by The Sacks...a painting I had not looked at in awhile. I thought to myself that I should call Sy to see how he was doing. I found this notice this morning after thinking of Sy.
May he rest in peace with Star. What a wonderful couple!

Sy & Star were among our first friends after we arrived in Phoenix. We remember dinners with their family and the long and interesreting conversations about the state of the world and our new lives in our new place. Our thoughts are with their children and grandchildren. They lived good and fruitful lSandra & Diick Wilks

Sy was a terrific person, father, lawyer and friend. He was a professional mentor to many prior and existing members of his law firm, including yours truly. Goodbye old friend. You'll be missed by many.
