Ruby, Sherley
87, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away on September 23, 2015. Mrs. Sherley Elaine (Garman) Ruby was born on June 18, 1928 in Harrisburg, PA, and entered the Church Triumphant on September 23, 2015 . After an early career as an English teacher, she met the Rev. Charles H. Ruby at Camp Nawakwa in Pennsylvania, and they married a year later.

Upon the family's move to Phoenix AZ in 1968, Sherley resumed teaching English and Drama, eventually becoming Head of the Upper School at Judson School in Scottsdale. In her spare time, she was President of the LCA- PSW Synod Lutheran Church Women, directed various church activities, led a Camp Fire troop, and tutored ESL students in English. Wife, mother, grandmother, aunt; organizer of egg hunts and airport greetings; lifelong learner and family cheerleader; her legacy is far-reaching, and her loss reverberating. We will always love and miss you, Mom.

She is survived by their children, Melissa Dugan (Ruby) and The Rev. Jeffrey Ruby; by her daughter-in-law Susan Ruby; and by grandchildren Kaitlin, David, and Erik. Her beloved husband of 55 years preceded her in death.
The committal service will be private; in lieu of flowers, the family requests that cards and donations go to the Sherley G. Ruby Memorial Fund, La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, 6300 E. Bell Rd, Scottsdale AZ 85254. Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary.
