Kirkander, Shirley Jean
89, of Phoenix, was welcomed into the loving arms of her savior Jesus Christ on August 16, 2016. She was reunited with her husband, Rodney Kirkander, who passed in 2003. Predeceasing her were her parents, Henry Rynerson and Anna Rynerson (Baker); her two sisters, Norma Wyatt and Donna Hodgeson and her daughter Lynda Martin (Kirkander). Shirley was born December 5, 1926 in Pekin, Illinois. She moved to Phoenix, Arizona, in the 1950's where she met and married her husband, Rodney. Shirley was very active with Palmcroft Baptist Church. For many years, she volunteered as a secretary, in children's ministries and any area she was needed. She was known to gather the children of the neighborhood and shelters and bring them to church allowing them to know the power of the Lord. Shirley is survived by her son, Mark Kirkander and his wife Laura; three grandchildren, Crystal, Alicia and Mark Jr.; three great grandchildren, Trevor, Bailyn and Kayleigh; along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22 at Palmcroft Baptist Church, 15825 N. 35th Ave, Phoenix. Shirley will be buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 22nd. The family would like to thank the staff of Artemis Adult Care Home and Hospice of the Valley for the care given to Shirley.
