Susan W. Ells Obituary
Ells, Susan W.
Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister Susan (Mack) Ells, 62, quietly and peacefully slipped from this life on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at her Gilbert, AZ home, surrounded by her loving family. Susan was known for her kind and gentle personality, beautiful smile and amazing sense of humor. Born September 15, 1953 in Cambridge, MA, to Stan and Margaret Mack, Susan moved to Arizona when she was 3 and grew up in Scottsdale with her sister, Sharon and brother, Gary. A 1971 graduate of Arcadia High School, she went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree in Art with highest distinction from Scottsdale Community College. An incredibly creative artist and wordsmith, Susan's passion was playing guitar and making music. Her musical talent was exceptional. On a beautiful Arizona afternoon, Susan met the love of her life, changing her world forever. Susan married Gary Ells in 1974 and began a 41-year romantic adventure. Together they raised a robust family of 4 boys. She was a loyal firefighter's wife and stayed at home with her full time job of raising her family. Always considerate first of others, Susan learned of another sister three years ago while researching her family history and united all the siblings, providing a much-needed real family connection for her sister. Susan lived a life of loyalty and complete dedication to her family. Ask and she would tell you her proudest life accomplishment was raising her sons into good men and their gift to her of 5 incredible grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Gary, sons Nicholas (Celina), Patrick, Timothy (Patricia) of Missouri, and Daniel (Rose); her sisters Sharon Shappel, Jodi Clark of California, brother Gary Santee and father Stan Mack of Ohio. Visitation Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. Queen of Heaven Catholic Mortuary, 1562 E. Baseline Rd., Mesa, AZ 85204.
