Timothy Scott Kirby Obituary
Kirby, Timothy Scott
51, of Scottsdale AZ, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 peacefully in his sleep after a long battle with cancer. Born in Dayton OH on February 26, 1962 to Eva Lynne and Jerry L. Kirby, Tim was a 1980 graduate of Centerville High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Ohio University in 1985. Tim was married to Lori Best on July 8, 1989. They welcomed their son Tyler in 1995, relocated to Phoenix in 1998 and were married for more than 24 years. He followed in his father's footsteps and had a long career in banking both in the Dayton and Phoenix areas. Tim was active in his community with Cave Creek Youth Football on the Board of Director's, as a coach and as a volunteer. He was a member of Highlands Church in Scottsdale where he was active in community outreach. Tim also worked for many years with the Phoenix International Raceway-NASCAR raising funds for the Victory Junction Gang. An excellent athlete growing up in Centerville OH, Tim carried on this passion as a coach and mentor to his son Tyler and many of the youth sports programs in the Scottsdale area. As an avid sports fan, he remained loyal to the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds throughout his life. Tim had a passion for the outdoors and loved to fish and hike in the mountains of Northern AZ and Mammoth Lakes CA with his son Tyler, wife Lori, his family and friends. Tim loved to laugh and tell old stories with lifelong friends and could not resist quoting his favorite lines from a familiar episode of Seinfeld or movies such as Fletch or Christmas Vacation. Tim was very nostalgic and never forgot a name, a story, family history or a person who had impacted his life. The Kirby Family wishes to thank all of those who so deeply touched Tim's life and offered their help and guidance over the years and especially those who lent their gracious assistance over the past several months as his condition progressed. Tim is survived by his parents Lynne and Jerry Kirby of Palm Desert CA, his wife Lori and son Tyler, his brother Jeff and sister in law Kim and their sons Ryan and Daniel, his niece and nephew Katie and Kyle Fain and their mother Debbie Fain, his mother in law Marjorie Miles, his lifelong best friend Matt Endicott, Lori's grandfather Paul Miles Sr., his uncles Barry, George and Tom Hanselman, several cousins and his Golden Retriever Buddy.
